Chairman Carnahan Statement On 2024 Election
November 8, 2024
“The next administration will inherit the best American economy in recent history, with historically high employment and inflation falling. The massive investments in infrastructure projects made by the Biden Harris Administration will only continue to yield the dividends promised. Our job now is to hold this administration and the Republican Party accountable to continuing this growth and expanding these investments in the American people,” said Missouri Democratic Party Chairman Russ Carnahan.
“While the results of this election were not what we had hoped for, there are plenty of things for Missouri Democrats to be proud of, including protecting the initiative petition process, enshrining reproductive rights into Missouri’s constitution, increasing the minimum wage and allowing Missouri workers to earn sick leave. Despite Democratic losses across the country, we held our numbers in the state legislature, a testament to the excellence of our candidates and their hard work. We must continue the fight and Missouri Democrats will be taking a hard look at the data, listening to our voters, and learning from these outcomes to build a strong coalition that champions progressive values for Missouri families.”

Wall Street Journal: The Next President Inherits a Remarkable Economy
“Whoever wins the White House next week will take office with no shortage of challenges, but at least one huge asset: an economy that is putting its peers to shame. With another solid performance in the third quarter, the U.S. has grown 2.7% over the past year. It is outrunning every other major developed economy, not to mention its own historical growth rate.More impressive than the rate of growth is its quality. This growth didn’t come solely from using up finite supplies of labor and other resources, which could fuel inflation. Instead, it came from making people and businesses more productive.”### Media Contact: Chelsea Rodriguez, Communications Director[email protected]
MDP Launches Voter Protection Unit, Prepared to Litigate St. Charles County Hand Count Audit
Voter Assistance Hotline: 833-336-8683
October 31, 2024
The Missouri Democratic Party is actively investigating St. Charles County Election Authority’s scheduled ‘hand count audit’ to take place on November 7, 2024. Missouri law (Mo. Code Regs. tit. 15 § 30-10.110) establishes the circumstances under which a hand count audit is performed and there is no legal authority to implement a hand count audit that falls outside of this scope, but the St Charles Election Authority has not publicly committed to follow established rules. The law specifically states that ballots should be selected at “random”, making clear that the audit process is not intended to allow an election authority to personally conduct a full hand count audit using unknown arbitrary standards.
The Missouri Democratic Party has filed a Sunshine request with St. Charles County to obtain a copy of its process and procedure in writing before the audit date and is willing to preemptively file a lawsuit to ensure that only established processes are implemented that comply with the law. Additionally, the MDP will have representatives in attendance at the November 1 hearing called to consider an injunction blocking early voting in the County to ensure no further action is needed by the Party to intervene.

“Jen Bahr won her seat as Cottleville Township Committeewoman last Tuesday by a remarkable single vote. While the total tally already opens the conversation of a recount, some are questioning the legitimacy of the outcome based on Jen Bahr’s marriage to Kurt Bahr, the St. Charles County Director of Elections. Several election judges are stepping forward, willing to submit signed affidavits claiming that Mr. Bahr ‘illegally electioneered within a polling place on behalf of his wife.’”
“Bahr and Parkinson admit to tampering with St. Charles County’s electronic voting machines by breaking the security seals to physically access 100% of the machines in the county to disable their Ethernet connectivity. The two did not keep a log of any of this information. One of the experts in the meeting informed the officials that, due to failed requirements and a lack of documentation, the cut wires invalidated the certification of the voting machines set forth by the EAC and VVSG.”

Unelected AG Bailey Launches New Attack On MO Women, Writes Quiet Part Out Loud
October 23, 2024
In response to unelected Attorney General Andrew Bailey’s latest attack on reproductive freedom with a lawsuit aimed at restricting access to mifepristone, a critical miscarriage management treatment, the Missouri Democratic Party released the following statement:
“For years, Missouri Republicans have been leading a war on Missouri women and girls, and this latest attempt by the unelected Attorney General to limit access to a safe miscarriage management treatment is the latest attack. In this lawsuit, Bailey explicitly exposed his motivation around blocking access to this essential medication as political and argued that teen pregnancy decline in Missouri ‘contributed to a population loss for the states along with diminishment of political representation and loss of federal funds,’ said Communications Director Chelsea Rodriguez.
“The willingness to argue this in writing demonstrates the complete lack of respect Missouri Republicans and the unelected Attorney General have for Missouri families. Instead of working to make life easier for all Missourians, these Republican politicians are only interested in launching their next political attack using our lives as the collateral, no matter how many times they lose in court or at the ballot box.”

The Missouri Independent: Missouri AG In Abortion Pill Lawsuit Argues Fewer Teen Pregnancies Hurt State Financially
“Missouri’s attorney general has renewed a push to restrict access to the abortion pill mifepristone, arguing in a lawsuit filed this month that its availability hurt the state by decreasing teenage pregnancy.
The revised lawsuit was filed by Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey, alongside GOP attorneys general in Kansas and Idaho. It asks a judge in Texas to order the Federal Drug Administration to reinstate restrictions on mifepristone, one of two medications prescribed to induce chemical abortions.
The trio of attorneys general were forced to refile the litigation after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected the original lawsuit after concluding the original plaintiffs — a group of anti-abortion doctors and medical organizations — did not have standing to sue because they couldn’t show they had been harmed.
In making the case that the states have standing this time, the attorneys general contend access to mifepristone has lowered “birth rates for teenaged mothers,” arguing it contributes to causing a population loss for the states along with “diminishment of political representation and loss of federal funds.”
